Daughter of former Lodge 512 President walks for M.G.
9/7/2010
The following is an email that I received from Sarah Hagan, the daughter of former Lodge 512 President, Buck Deere. Buck put in many years as President while our lodge was in St. Louis. For those who would like to help fight Myasthenia Gravis, please read the following. I hope you will participate. I am.

On October 9th, I will join hundreds of others to help in the fight of the effects of Myasthenia Gravis (MG) by walking in the 3rd Annual Myasthenia Walk to be held at the Big Dam Bridge in North Little Rock. By making a pledge, you are supporting research and local services to those affected with this unpredictable disease.

I have a personal stake in this particular event. My father, Reuben “Buck” Deere, has MG. Not only do I want to help him, but also the many others diagnosed with MG. MG is a neuromuscular disorder characterized by variable weakness of voluntary muscles, which often improves with rest and worsens with activity. The condition is caused by an abnormal immune response. Even simple everyday living skills become increasingly difficult, and everyone is affected differently by these symptoms.

My goal is to raise $1,000 for this event. Please help me reach that goal with your pledge. Your donation is tax deductible. If you wish, you may mail all or part of your pledge today to 1 Maranes Cove, Maumelle, AR 72113. Otherwise, I will collect your pledge at the event.

Please make your check payable to Myasthenia Gravis Foundation. My deadline to get my pledges in is Friday, October 1st. Following the event, I will send out a brief recap of the MG 3rd Annual Myasthenia Walk to all my sponsors.

Thank you in advance for your support. Please email me if you have any questions or comments about the event or how to donate. I can be reached at sarahdeere@hotmail.com.

Sincerely, br> Sarah Hagan
